They Thank You

In Case You’d Forgotten

Way to vote, people! Raising these guys in this country is suddenly a little less terrifying. Sadly, while we were celebrating, several measures against families like ours were passed. There is work to be done in so many areas. But maybe, just maybe, there’s some hope now.

  1. totally one of my first thoughts after Obama was declared was how I fantastic this is going to be for the NEXT generation. PHEW. & oh gawd do those kiddies look cute.
    xo

  2. FWIW, we voted NO on Florida’s Prop 2, and though I’m not surprised, I’m horrified that it passed. The amendment was worded in such a way that it didn’t just constitutionally ban same-sex marriage, but any legal equivalent of marriage… there go civil unions, and it doesn’t look so good for domestic partnerships. I just don’t get it. The people who vote for these things consider themselves to be pro-marriage — why wouldn’t they want everyone to be able to settle down and get hitched?

So I’m sad about that, and about the many local races that my team lost, but I don’t think I’ll ever forget that moment of pure joy when I saw Florida light up blue. There’s hope.

  3. First of all, that photo is so cute I’m going to die.
Second, I’m really happy about Obama but really sad about the votes against gay rights. I should not be surprised, and yet I find myself feeling disillusioned.
Third, did I mention that your kids are adorable?

  4. I wish that people would stop seeing gay marriage as an abomination. I can’t put into words how much it hurts me that people I love and care about (my brother and the wonderful women I have come to know through ttc) do not have the same rights that I do…and that is what it comes down to…simple, basic human right.

    xoxo,
    Shan

  5. Let’s fight back on Proposition 8. Let’s boycott California wines, produce and travel. Let’s publicize it. Let’s embarrass them. It worked a few years ago in Colorado. What do say?
